Santa Marta &
Tayrona National Park
Santa Marta, another beautiful city located on Colombia’s Caribbean coastline, is a five hour van ride from Cartagena (or 30 minute plane ride). This smaller, more quaint city has amazing beaches, restaurants and shopping. Stroll through Parque de Los Novios and enjoy the Caribbean vibe that this city has to offer.
Nine miles from Santa Marta is spectacular Tayrona National Park. If hiking is your thing then Tayrona is for you. A hike through this jungle trail will put you face to face with Howler monkeys, colorful birds and other exotic creatures. At the end of this trail is the Caribbean Sea and miles of beautiful sandy beaches. Enjoy the blue sea, lounge in a hammock and have a seafood lunch on one of these pristine beaches.
Another favorite adventure of ours is floating down the Don Diego River in an inner tube with a favorite beverage. This river spills into the Caribbean Sea...play in the waves and or enjoy a quiet beach. There is so much to do in this region of Colombia.
